In March 2022, the Born & Bred team created a poem using a technique known as “exquisite corpse.” Developed by the surrealists in the early 20th century, exquisite corpse is a creative group exercise where each collaborator only sees the end of what the previous person did before making their contribution. When the poem was completed, we wanted to bring it to life. We asked our friend Alex Silver of H.A.N.D. Paint Co. to incorporate the poem on one of his signature hand-painted surfboards. To document the work, we produced a video that reflects the similarities between the creative process and surfing.
